Two OK drivers face drunk driving charges in unrelated cases

According to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's office, two drivers face drunk driving charges in unrelated cases. Both of the arrests were made in cases involving children in the cars and occurred on the same day

In the first incident that occurred in the morning of March 9, a 23-year old female was found unconscious in the driver's seat of a vehicle near Sheridan and Western Avenue. When the responding law enforcement official woke the woman up, her vehicle rolled into the intersection. When the vehicle stopped, the law enforcement official noticed a sleeping child in the backseat of the vehicle. The driver admitted to taking prescription medication and smoking marijuana. She was taken into custody and charged with possession of controlled dangerous drugs without a valid prescription and DUI child endangerment.

The second incident occurred later in the evening on March 9. A law enforcement official approached a vehicle with an expired tag close to Portland Avenue and Newcastle Road. Allegedly, the driver was unsteady on his feet and had slow verbal abilities. Two children where in the vehicle with this 33-year old driver. The driver admitted to the use of marijuana, and he was taken into custody for charges related to an expired tag, driving with a suspended license, child endangerment and DUI.

The charges that both of these individuals face are considerable, and if they are found guilty of the charges filed against them, the punishments may be severe. A Norman DUI and DWI attorney may be contacted by individuals such as these who face DUI or DWI charges in Oklahoma. An attorney may construct a strong defense based on evidence from the case, and this may result in a lighter sentence if convicted. It may also result in charges being reduced or dismissed.
