License suspension in Oklahoma

Oklahoma drivers may have their licenses and driving privileges suspended for a number of reasons. A suspension period may last for a period of several months or up to several years. The length of the suspension is directly related to the type of offense that caused the suspension and the driving record of the person who committed the offense.

What is the procedure for a blood alcohol test?

In Oklahoma, only certain people are allowed to withdraw blood at the request of a law enforcement official to determine what may be in an individual's blood. A few of these groups include medical doctors, physician assistants and nurses licensed by the State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision. Others qualified to make such a blood draw include those authorized by the Board of Tests for Alcohol and Drug Influence.

Zero tolerance drunk driving law in Oklahoma

Oklahoma has a zero tolerance law designed to prevent drunk driving by motorists under the age of 21. While a driver aged 21 or over is considered intoxicated when his or her blood alcohol level is .08 percent or higher, the allowable level for younger drivers is .02 percent. There are two main reasons for this difference.

Oklahoma man admits to crashing into statue

Police say that a man drove his vehicle into and damaged a statue of the Ten Commandments on Oct. 23 in Oklahoma City. According to authorities, the man claimed to be a Satanist and made claims that Satan forced the man to commit the action. The defendant also reportedly urinated on the monument, which was erected in 2012 and costed over $10,000, and made defamatory comments about the president to authorities.
