Oklahoma man faces multiple charges after DUI checkpoint stop

The Oklahoma County Sheriff's office reported that it recovered a stolen red SUV after stopping its driver at a DUI checkpoint positioned on N. MacArthur in Oklahoma City. Deputies said the 23-year-old man behind the wheel could not produce a driver's license or proof of insurance.

Sentencing for drunk driving

The severity of penalties for a DUI conviction in Oklahoma will usually depend on the nature of the drunk driving incident and whether or not the driver had any prior DUI convictions on their record. A driver could face fines, a possible prison sentence, probation and a revocation of their driver's license. In some cases, drivers may also be required to complete an alcohol treatment program and have an ignition interlock device installed in their vehicle.

New law could prevent those with a DUI from buying alcohol

Oklahoma residents who are convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol may no longer be able to drink if a proposed senate bill passes. Senate Bill 30 could result in a law that makes it illegal for those with a DUI to consume or purchase alcohol for an amount of time set by a judge.

Oklahoma politician charged with drunk driving

A former Oklahoma state senator was taken into custody for DWI around 8:30 a.m. on Aug. 30. The 69-year-old politician allegedly offered to make the officer who took the man into custody the police chief if he showed leniency. This is the third time since 2013 that the man has been taken into custody from driving under the influence of alcohol.

Driver accused of crashing into police cars charged with DUI

Oklahoma police say that a driver hit two city police cruisers on Aug. 7 while traveling on Lake Hefner Parkway near Britton Road. The incident occurred right before midnight as the cops were helping direct traffic around an earlier crash.

Oklahoma City accident results in DUI complaint

Oklahoma City Police took a driver into custody on suspicion of DUI after a pickup truck collided with the rear of a semi-truck early on June 9. Police report that the truck was moving south on the Broadway Extension service road when the accident occurred. Near the intersection of Kelley Avenue and 122nd Street, the pickup truck slammed into the back of a parked semi-truck.
